SUBJECT: E-mail and Computers

Because of the increase in the attacks of Worms, Trojans, and Viruses we need to take steps to limit our exposure to these attacks on the company equipment. All units have Anti-Virus software installed along with SpyBot search and destroy. Regular scans and staying updated are important to keep the computer safe and performing well.

In the future any file sent to you by an attachment will be preceded with an announcement message notifying you of the attachments and the name of the attachment.

DO NOT open any attachment from anyone outside of TDS management. Just delete the E-mail. Your geologist needs to route all well info that needs to be attached as a file to Greg,  or Royce and it will be forwarded to you at the well with proper notification.

If you don’t already have one; please set up a Web Based E-mail with someone like Yahoo. Use the link below to get a free account.

Use this personal account for all of your personal e-mail communications. Do not download any attachments for your personal e-mail to the company computers. This is important for both TDS and your own privacy.

The computers and Internet access is provided by TDS to conduct company business. The company does not approve of visiting adult web pages or installing un-approved software on the company machines. Do not install any P2P software for downloading music files to the computer. It presents a load on both the available bandwidth and the computer. There also exist a potential liability to both TDS and the person who conducted the activity. All Internet activity is monitored and can be retrieved from the computer.

We all at TDS want you to enjoy your job here and be able to use the computer to enable you to do the best work you can. The Internet is a vast resource for information to be able to learn and increases our knowledge of our work, and we want you to use it to that means.

It is important to check your e-mail and the TDS employee page at GOTDS.COM on regular basis for important information. Also please keep Yahoo Messenger up and running so we can get in touch with you easily.

Print a copy of this to post on the bulletin board and make everyone aware of the policy on computer use.
